Lech Poznań – Warta Poznań 2:0

Everyone predicted that Lech would dominate the match, trying to find a way to break down Warta’s defensive line, whereas their opponent would concentrate on guarding the goal. However, to everyone’s surprise, the first half looked different – Warta came closer to scoring than their rival from Bułgarska street despite the latter maintaining possession of the ball for a majority of the first half. Only thanks to Filip Bednarek’s goalkeeping skills and quick reflex did Lech avoid conceding a goal.

The hosts came back for the second half with different energy and quickly converted their offensive attempts into two goals, both of which were a result of crosses from the right flank. First, Joel Pereira sent the ball into the net and Antonio Milić converted the pass into his first goal. 9 minutes later, Lech was awarded a free-kick and Kvekveskiri’s perfectly-timed pass was turned into a goal by Mikael Ishak. The captain’s header left Warta’s goalkeeper helpless.

The 2:0 win helped Lech hold onto the leader’s position in the league table. Next weekend, the squad from Bułgarska street is going to face Zagłębie Lubin in an away game (December 5^th). However, before the team travels to Lower Silesia, they will visit Cracow to play against Garbarnia in the round of 16 of the Fortuna Polish Cup (December 1^st).
