For the first time in a long time, Lech Poznań dominated in a clash with Legia Warsaw, but John van den Brom’s squad still failed to beat their league rival. Hence, the 0:0 draw for many feels more like a loss.
Legia didn’t get a single shot on target throughout the whole 90 minutes which says a lot about the Saturday game. Meanwhile, the hosts fired 5 precise shots but none of them were good enough to decide the final score. In the first half, it was Joao Amaral who had the best goal-scoring opportunity but in a one-on-one with Kacper Tobias, he failed to beat the keeper. Towards the end of the first 45 minutes, Jesper Karlstrom also came close to scoring, but Legia’s goalkeeper managed to stop his shot from outside the box.
After halftime, Lech continued dominating on the pitch, but their control of the match didn’t have the desired impact on the score. In the 80th minute Artur Jędrzejczyk received a second yellow and as a result a red card. It seemed that this could be the decisive moment of the match, yet Lech, despite playing with one more player, didn’t take advantage of the opportunity and failed to win the game. Shortly before the final whistle, Michał Skóraś fired a good shot at Legia’s goal, but it hit the woodwork.
Lech will play their next match on Thursday, at home, against Hapoel Beer Sheva in the UEFA Conference League. The kick-off is scheduled for 6:45 pm.
