Lech Poznań homegrown player Tomasz Kędziora returns to Bułgarska street. The 27-year-old defender signed a contract with Lech which will last until the end of the 2021/22 season.
Kędziora used to play for Lech for 7 years until 2017 when he moved from Poznań to Kyiv. Until the war had begun, the Polish defender has had a very successful span at Dinamo – not only did he regularly compete in Champions League and Europa League, but he also won the Ukrainian Championship title, won the national cup twice and the Super Cup three times.
Now, the recently implemented FIFA regulations have enabled Kędziora to sign a contract with another club until the end of the current season. It was natural that Lech would enable Tomasz to return to his home club and compete for trophies.
“Tomasz is our homegrown player who won multiple titles with us, including the most recent Polish Championship trophy. In the current situation, it was natural that we would want to help out Tomasz and his family. Two weeks ago Kędziora joined us and began training with the senior team. Now it happens so that following the changes in regulations, we can sign a contract until the end of the season,” explained Lech’s Sporting Director, Tomasz Rząsa.
“He brings great value to the team – another Polish national team player, a homegrown footballer, someone who celebrated a Polish Championship title with us back in 2015. We are hoping that his skills and experience will help us achieve our objectives this season,” added Rząsa.
Kędziora joined Lech to train alongside the first team two weeks ago. The homegrown defender has already worked together with coach Maciej Skorża, as well as a couple of current team members, including Dawid Kownacki and Barry Douglas who, together with Kędziora, celebrated the Polish Championship in the 2014/15 season.
“I have already had the pleasure to play for Lech and I remember what it was like. Some of the people are still working at the club, whether in the coaching staff or in the club structures. The team itself has changed but the overall quality is amazing – this squad has everything that’s needed to achieve the objectives set for this season,” emphasized Kędziora. “I have been training for two weeks now so I am ready – mentally and physically – to play on Saturday,” highlighted the defender.
