For the IV round of qualifications for the European competition, INEA Stadium will be closed down for all the fans. UEFA banned Lech's stadium for one of the transparents that were exposed by a few pseudo fans in Sarajevo.
The club was punished with a 200,000 zł (50,000 euro) fine and its stadium was closed down for the upcoming match of the qualifications for the European competition.
"We won't discuss fairness of the punishment," said Karol Klimczak, chairman of the club. "Because of an idiotic behavior of a few fans, thousands of supporters won't get the chance to see one of the most awaited matches of the season from the stands. The team will play without its biggest advantage - the support of the "twelfth player" - the amazing fans who help us realize our aims. It's impossible to ignore what had happened and the moment we identify the ones who are to be blamed, we will make sure they face the consequences of their actions."
On Monday UEFA's Commission of Control, Ethics and Discipline is supposed to receive a motion for justification of the punishment, while within 3 days the club can invoke and then within the next 5 days it should send its own justification.
"For sure we will use that option. We accept fully UEFA's rules, but in this specific case we believe that the sanction is too harsh and not proportional to the actions done during a match away from our home ground - that fact has to be highlighted, too," emphasized Klimczak.
