Improve efficiency ahead of Saturday

Maciej Skorża’s team was a definitive favourite in the clash with Stal Mielec. The squad from Poznań dominated and created numerous goal-scoring opportunities but despite firing nearly 30 shots at Stal’s goal, the match ended in a goalless draw.

“The loss of points hurt – we were supposed to collect three points in Mielec. Looking at the whole match, we deserved to win; Stal focused solely on defence. Still, we managed to create many goal-scoring chances and all we had to do was to convert them in order to win the game. Hence, it hurts knowing we had so many opportunities to win three points. On the other hand, there is no reason to be overly dramatic – it’s not a crisis, just lack of luck and poor efficiency,” highlighted Lech’s defender, Bartosz Salamon.

On Saturday (8 pm), Lech is going to play the next league game, this time against Górnik Łęczna. Lech’s opponent is currently ranked last in the league table and has the most conceded goals out of all PKO BP Ekstraklasa squads. Nevertheless, in the last league round, Górnik managed to steal a draw against the favourites – Raków Częstochowa (0:0).

“I think that Górnik’s clash with Raków looked similar to our match against Stal. This is the kind of game we ought to expect on Saturday – if we don’t score the first and the second goal quickly, this is how it might end up looking. Therefore, we need to focus even more on preparing various offensive tactics in order to score as fast as possible. If we manage to do so, the match will be totally different – in these kinds of games, as long as the score is nil-nil, you have a problem,” emphasised Lech’s defender.
