Lech Poznan was beaten by Cracovia (0:1) in the 17th league game of the season.
Lech Poznan began the match in Cracow with a great goal-scoring chance. Jevtic sent a precise cross into the box where Gytkjaer was waiting, but Dane’s header flew above the crossbar. The hosts responded with a free kick off target and an imprecise attempt from Dytiatiev.
Lech was lucky in the following offensive attack. Wdowiak came one-on-one with Buric, however, his shot was slightly off target and he wasted a perfect opportunity to score. Jevtic’s attempt from a free kick was similarly imprecise. Half an hour into the match, the Swiss footballer converted a corner kick into a great cross, but unfortunately for the guests, the keeper stopped Gytkjaer’s shot successfully.
Lech had another chance to score shortly afterwards. Following a quick counterattack, Makuszewski raced into the box and fired a shot right into the hands of Cracovia’s keeper. The hosts came close to scoring a moment later, but Buric stopped the ball from rolling into the net once again. The score hadn’t changed before halftime and the referee announced halftime.
The second half began with Kostevych crossing the ball towards Gytkjaer who was waiting in the box, but Dane’s attempt was off target. In the 55th minute, Cracovia managed to place the ball in the back of the net thanks to Wdowiak who outraced one of Lech’s defenders and beat the keeper.
The hosts had a couple of good goal-scoring chances afterwards, however, they failed to convert them into a second goal. 20 minutes into the second half, Nawalka’s players responded with a long ball from Tiba and a shot on target from Gytkjaer, but the goalkeeper from Cracow intervened impressively yet again. For the next couple of minutes, Lech remained in the possession of the ball for a majority of the time but they struggled to convert it into goal-scoring chances.
Tiba’s and Amaral’s shots from outside the box were both off target. In the 90th minute, Lech got the perfect chance to equalize and collect an important point, but Gytkjaer’s shot was stopped by the keeper and Tomczyk’s attempt was imprecise. The score remained unchanged and when the referee blew the final whistle, it was Cracovia that rejoiced.
