Djurdjevic admitted that the Sunday clash with Wisla Cracow might be the hardest league match his team played so far this season. “I respect all Wisla footballers, they are very experienced and have been performing well recently. We are concentrated during each game and won’t underestimate the rival,” said the coach.
The Serbian explained that the 5 points Wisla has collected so far this season can be misleading and that the fans should expect an exhilarating match on Sunday. “Wisla has been undergoing big changes. The club wants to invest more into young, Polish, developing footballers, which should be appraised. You can see that they put an emphasis on the offensive. They play open football which we as a team prefer. The fans should expect an interesting clash on Sunday,” said Djurdjevic.
The coach believes that his team reacted very well to the first-leg loss against Genk by winning with Zaglebie Sosnowiec. The Serbian expects his players to perform similarly on Sunday. “At halftime during the match against Genk, I told my players that advancing to the playoffs is a difficult task, maybe even impossible. Now it’s time to face Wisla Cracow. The team has reacted well and is ready for the upcoming challenges. The matches against Wisla have a long history. We have to win and play great football,” highlighted Lech’ coach.
Djurdjevic emphasized his respect for the rival but also pointed out the importance of the location of the game. “We will play at home and we want to impose our style. Wisla is at a great disposal and underestimating them shouldn’t even cross our minds. We remain concentrated with an aim to control the game. We saw Wisla play open football in the clash with Jagiellonia. Thus, I expect our fans to enjoy the Sunday match,” added the coach.
The clash with Wisla is the first league match that the supporters will be able to watch from the stands. “Support is incredibly important; it helps significantly not only me, but the whole team. I want our fans to back the team – it's what we need during this difficult period. We want to defend ourselves with results and show the fans that coming to the stadium is worth it,” summarized Djurdjevic.
