The fight is still on

Regret, anger, despair – these feelings accompanied the whole club after last weekend’s defeat in the Fortuna Polish Cup final at the PGE National Stadium. However, now it’s time for the players to channel those emotions and convert them into the best possible performance in the remaining league matches - the fight for the Polish Championship is still on. On Sunday at 5:30 pm, Lech Poznań will face Piast in an away clash.

On Monday evening, the atmosphere in Lech’s dressing room could have hardly been any sadder. On one side of the corridor, Raków rejoiced about winning the Polish Cup, and on the other, Skorża’s squad slowly prepared to go back to Poznań with heads held low, knowing that they just lost one of the two trophies they had a chance of winning this season.

The Polish Cup final did not go according to Lech’s plan. The final whistle was supposed to arouse joy, not sadness. However, with just a few league games to go, the players need to channel the regret and anger into a productive drive. On Sunday, they have another crucial match to play – against Piast Gliwice – which they ought to win if they want to still have a shot at the championship title. “The next few days are going to demonstrate what kind of a team we are. It’s easy to stick together when you win. But in moments like that, we ought to show that we are still in for the fight and that we will stick together, fight for each other, and win the remaining three games. This loss needs to be a source of motivation for us to do everything we possibly can to win the championship,” emphasized Lubomir Satka.

Lech’s midfielder Radosław Murawski made similar comments after last weekend’s defeat.

“We can’t give up now because we have nothing to lose but so many to gain. We need to fight until the very end, win the three matches, and think of nothing else. We ought to concentrate on ourselves only and win everything there is left to win. We are in a very difficult spot, but this is where we need to show that we are a team. It’s time to get back up and support each other. There are still three league games left to play. If today was our last match of the season, we could be grieving, but now is definitely not the time for that. We ought to get it together, concentrate on the match against Piast, and fight until the very end,” highlighted Murawski.

Jakub Kamiński also emphasized that the season isn’t over yet and there is still a lot to win. “It’s not easy to bounce back after a loss like that but we need to do it because in a few days’ time we play a match in Gliwice and we need to win it to stay in the fight for the championship. Now it’s time to focus on winning the remaining three games. We will fight for the championship title until the end,” said Lech’s homegrown player.
